The VII session of the "International School of Surgeon" with the participation of our international students was held from April 8 to 14 at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

Eight Preventive Medicine students visited Harbin Medical University (Harbin, Heilongjiang province) for internship from 5 to 15 January. They visited various departments and laboratories of HMU, attended classes and explored the Chinese culture.

Contest language: Russian and English. The Contest will be held in two stages: Clinical Thinking Assessment and Practical Skills Application in Simulation Conditions.

On 9 December the I.I. Mechnikov’s NWSMU International Students’ Club, SPbU Sport Club and SPbU Foreign Students Club organized St. Petersburg Youth Forum of Intercultural Cooperation

The competition was organized by the Foreign Languages Department supported by the International Department of North-Western State Medical University named after. I.I. Mechnikov. It was aimed at increasing interest in the foreign language study and expanding international ties in medical education and healthcare.

From May 12 to 17, 2023, Ms. Nataliya Koroleva, Head of the International Department of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, visited India to join the promotional campaign of the University for foreign applicants.

On May 13, the University Alumni Meeting was held in cooperation with our partners in India.

Annual M.I. Perelman’s International Students’ Olympiad in Surgery was taking place from 10th to 16th of April 2023 in I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. 26 best medical students’ teams participated in the Final round of the Olympiad, while Mechnikov’s NWSMU was represented by 56 students and residents, who were competing in different areas of surgery.

In November 2020 our University launched General Medicine program (EMI) for international students. Now it's time to share the students’ feedback on their studies and overall impressions of the University.

The 2nd online meeting of International School of Surgeon took place on the 10th of February 2023 with participation of I.M. Sechenov’s First Moscow Medical University and Belarus State Medical University.

On 2 September 2022, Professor Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, visited NWSMU n.a. I.I. Mechnikov. Gulf Medical University founded in 1998 is the leading medical university in the Gulf region.

A two-week practical training course in hygiene and epidemiology for ten students from the Faculty of Preventive Medicine of the Belarusian State Medical University in Minsk, Belarus, has been successfully completed at North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov.

On July 6, 2022, a lecture for students of one of the India's leading dental institutes, Srivenkateshwaraa Dental College, was held as part of an international summer school. Oxana Shalak, Associate Professor, Head of the Teaching and Clinical Dental Centre of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, delivered a lecture on Diagnosis and treatment of patients with gingival recession.

On 8 and 9 June 2022, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov welcomed a delegation of doctors and lecturers from Sri Lanka and India. On the first day of the visit, the guests met with the Rector of NWSMU named after I.I. Mechnikov. On the second day, members of the delegation took part in the international conference on Topical issues of modern dentistry (Russia - India - Sri Lanka).

On May 25th, another museum tour for the University preparation course attendees took place as part of the project. Attendees from Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Jordan visited the University History Museum and learned more about the origins of Russian medicine and medical education.

The 2nd year master student from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan) Aizada Ziyasheva had an internship at North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov from 15 to 30 April 2022.

On 12 April, University entrance preparation course attendees visited the Museum of History of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov. Future students had an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history of national medicine and the University in particular.

From 7 to 10 February 2022, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov hosted English Winter School on Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition for international students. That was the second school on gastroenterology organized by the University remotely.

Foreign students, postgraduate students, residents and students of preparatory courses are allowed to return to Russia to continue their studies. From August 2 to August 13, 2021, students of the 6th year of the faculty of Preventive Medicine, Belarusian State Medical University (Minsk, Belarus), had an internship at North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov.

International Summer School on Orthodontics took place on 21- 22 July 2021 at NWSMU named after I. I. Mechnikov in online format. This was the first summer school on dentistry in English organized for international students.

On 29 and 30 June, 2021 the annual international MedTalks (Medical Talks) event was held at NWSMU. MedTalks is an international platform for discussion and exchange of ideas in the field of higher medical education and international activities.

From June 28 to July 03, 2021 the Chair of Epidemiology, Parasitology and Disinfectology hosted a training course on Hospital Epidemiology for specialists from the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On April 12 and 13, 2021 our University participated in the intensive online course on student well-being. This course was organized by Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the University’s International Office in the framework of the FIRST program.

The MD course includes 6 years of study and practical training, partly in English. During the first 3 years of training considerable attention is paid to the study of the Russian language.

The first International Online Symposium

In June 2020, summer medical schools in English will start online at NWSMU! The unique summer / autumn and winter schools that have already become traditional at our university provide foreign and russian students with an excellent opportunity to gain practical skills in medicine. This can be done online this summer!

On August 16 the University received the Vietnam delegation headed by Dr.Nguyen Duc Hinh, Rector of Hanoi Medical University and Prof.Pham Van Thuc, Rector of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
