The XII-th Congress of internists of Saint-Petersburg and the North-Western federal district of the Russian Federation
The XII-th Congress of internists of Saint-Petersburg and the North-Western federal district of the Russian Federation was held on March 19-20, 2013.
The organizers of the Congress were the Healthcare Committee of Saint-Petersburg, the North-Western department of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Acad. I.P. Pavlov, the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, the Russian Scientific Medical Society of internists, the Saint- Petersburg Society of internists named after S.P. Botkin, the Association of internists of Saint- Petersburg. Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg O.A. Kazanskaya took part in the work of the Congress as well as the Chairman of the Healthcare Committee V.M. Kolabutin, and the Chief internists of the North-Western federal district of the Russian Federation. Plenary session "Difficult and Unsolved Questions of Internal Medicine and Possible Solutions" began on March 19, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Concert hall of the Hotel «Saint-Petersburg». Professor B.I. Shulutko made a report on this subject. The chief internist of Russia, member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences A.G. Chuchalin, the Chief internist of St. Petersburg and member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences V.I. Mazurov, the Chairman of the Board of St. Petersburg Society of internists and associate member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences G.B. Fedoseyev made their reports in debate on the subject of plenary session. The resolution was adopted according to the results of the discussion. The commencement address of the President of the Russian Scientific Society of internists and member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, professor A.I. Martynov (Moscow) was included in the programme of plenary session "The role of magnesium deficiency in internal diseases". The breakout sessions were held on March 19-20, 2013 in six audiences at the same time. It was planned 30 symposiums on topical issues of internal pathology: 4 on cardiology, 4 on pulmonology, 6 on gastroenterology, 5 on rheumatology, 4 on neurology, 2 on endocrinology, 1 on immunopathology, 2 on urology, 1 on hematology, 1 on homeopathy. On symposiums 77 reports were presented to listeners. Besides symposiums the Congress programme included 34 lectures. Special attention in all reports was paid to modern methods of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases. The Congress programme was made in such a way that the delegates had a chance to move from one audience to another during breaks, choosing the most interesting subjects. On the XII-th Congress 6 members and associate members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, 64 professors, 12 associate professors and 4 research associates from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk and Kazan gave their lectures. The pharmaceutical co-exhibition was organized at the Congress. After the Congress closing delegates received the Certificate of participant. All meetings were free.
