XVIII international conference of maxillofacial surgeons and dentists

"Modern dentistry"

Conference took place on October 29-30 in the frame of the VI international dental exhibition "Dental-Expo St. Petersburg 2013" under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Doctors of all dental specialties took part in the work of the conference: therapists-dentists, surgeons-dentists and maxillofacial surgeons, orthopedists-dentists, orthodontists, children dentists, chief physicians of dental policlinics, heads of maxillofacial departments of hospitals. At the conference successful technologies of surgical treatment of paradontium diseases, modern methods of diagnostics of diseases of mucous membrane of oral cavity, paradontium operations, role of genetic factors in pathogenesis of aggressive periodontal disease, complex treatment of patients with dysfunction of maxillo-temporal joint, pathology of salivary glands at people of the senior age groups, restoration of trailer defects of tooth prosthesis were considered at the expressed atrophy of bone tissues, economic problems of alteration and restoration of removable dentures, planning of installation of orthodontic microimplants with use of a three-dimensional computer tomography, influence of orthodontic treatment with use of various techniques at adult patients, etc. The performed scientific research results acquainted practical dentists with new opportunities of examination and treatment of patients.

In the interview to "Vestnik" prof. V.A. Kozlov, the Chairman of the Organizing committee, the member correspondent of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of the Russian Federation: "It is impossible to tell about a role of dental school of St. Petersburg shortly. Our University is one of leading educational institutions on preparation of dentists in the country. In 1935 the first chair of maxillofacial surgery was opened in our country.

St. Petersburg is considerably a standard of construction of maxillofacial surgeons in our country.

He was talking about structures new created unique centers of dispensary supervision for children, patients with trauma needed rehabilitation and oncolytic patients.

Many interesting issues were illuminated in different reports during the conference.

I hope that our cooperation will get stronger in all spheres of life. Implementation of new technologies in dentistry is very important, and the exchange of experience will help to improve the results of orthodontic treatment".
