Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Finland) visited NWSMU named after I.I. Mechnikov on March 25-26. The conference "Hospital Hygiene" took place on March 26, 2014 which was attended by the representatives of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and the specialists in preventive medicine from Saint-Petersburg, as well as students, interns and residents of the University. The speakers were: Professor Anna V. Ljubimova and Oia G. Tekhova Associate Professor of the Department of Epidemiology, Parasitology and Disinfectology; and senior lecturers from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences: Tuula Hämäläinen, Kirsti Sandell, Arja Sarah-aho and Tuula Iivarinen.
Reports were dedicated to the infectious safety provision and sanitary activities in rendering medical services. Audience had a nice opportunity to compare approaches of hospital hygiene in Russia and Finland. All presentations were shown in English and Russian. Translations were prepared by the Department for International Affairs that ensured good contact and mutual understanding, and after the presentations there were held the discussions.
The programme included the visit to the clinic of cardiosurgery named after E.E.Eichvald, organized by the Head of the Department Dr. K.V.Kuznetsov as well as the report at the Academic Board of the faculty of preventive medicine, where the representatives of Saimaa University noted the opportunities for cooperation.
Our colleagues from Finland also visited Maternity Clinic №9. The Chief physician V.O.Atlasov showed guests the work of the institution. The delegation got acquainted with delivery and postnatal wards. The representatives of Saimaa University interested actively in the organization of maternity unit and infection control, maintenance of sanitary regime. The Chief physician V.O.Atlasov and the staff of the hospital share information of interest with the guests.
