The Head of the Students’ Scientific Circle Kostyukevich S.V. reported at the seating of the Contest Commission that during 2013-2014 academic year 44 reports about students’ researches were received.

 

In comparison with the previous academic year (2012-2013) the number of reports increased for 21 % at the university scientific conferences, for 44% at the interuniversity conferences and for 100% at the international ones. Thus the number of authors participating in the conference increased too: for 17% at the university scientific conferences, for 5 % at the interuniversity conferences and for 95% at the international ones.

We have good results concerning the number of grants won by students or prizes at the All-Russian and international competitions, as well as the number of publications in the national press and international editions remained the same (12 and 20 respectively).

The number of students scientific publications in the University collections increased – for 72%, including without coauthors University employees – for 78%.

In accordance with the criteria and score fixed in the Regulations of Student Scientific Circle of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, the leaders of the Contest became: 


I. THE BEST UNIVERSITY STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE.


1st place - Department of General Surgery (5423 points)
Supervisor - Professor Nikolai I. Glushkov
Curator - Associate Professor Mikhail A. Ivanov
The expected result became publication of 12 students work in the national press and international editions.
2nd place - Department of Latin (5070 points)
Supervisor - Associate Professor Alla G. Kovzalina
Curator - Senior Lecturer Natalia A. Ulyankova
Based on 7 prize places in various categories (3 Diploma for the 1st place, 4 Diploma for 2nd place) at the VIII International Academic Competition in Latin and the fundamental terminology.
3rd place - Department of Therapy and Clinical Pharmacology (4412 points)
Supervisor - Professor Vladimir I. Simanenkov
Curator - Associate Professor Ksenia A. Zagorodnikova
Two prizes at the 2nd All-Russian Academic Competition in clinical pharmacology. One publication is made in the international edition. The number of Professors rates at undergraduate level, which provided this result is 3.25 Professors rate.


II. THE BEST STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE IN PREVENTIVE MEDICINE:
1st place - Department of Epidemiology, Parasitology and Disinfectology (2004 points)
Three grant from Saint-Petersburg Government for students researches were decisive.
2nd place - Department of Food Hygiene (1935 points)
The work with students participation, published in the reviewed journal, was supported by 4.75 Professors rates at the undergraduate level.
3rd place - Department of Medical Microbiology (1030 points)
Two works with students participation, published in national and international editions, were supported by 13 Professors rates at the undergraduate level. As well 10 reports at the international conferences are representative.


III. THE BEST CLINICAL STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE:


1st place - Department of General Surgery (5423 points)
Automatic result after 1 place at the University this year.
2nd place - Department of Therapy and Clinical Pharmacology (4412 points)
Automatic result after 3 places at the University this year.
3rd place - Department of Forensic Medicine (1374 points)
In addition to the basic work this result was supported by two student conferences held at a high level.
 
IV. THE BEST BIOMEDICAL AND HUMAN SOCIAL STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE:
 

1st place - Department of Latin (5070 points)
Automatic result after 2 place at the University this year.
2nd place - Department of Pathological Physiology (418 points)
In addition to the basic work, the student conference was carried out, which was registered in the University Plan of research and practical activities in 2014
3rd place - Department of Operational and Clinical Surgery with Topographic Anatomy (396 points)
High students publication activity: 39 publications in the University collections, 7 publications in the collections of other universities.
 

At the University Academic Council (on December 26, 2014) the winners will be awarded Diplomas, and Heads of the Departments and Curator of the best Students’ Scientific Circle at three University Departments will be granted decorations.
