The Center started its work on the basis of Diagnostic Center (Kirochnaya ul., 41) at North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov.

The main target of the Center is to improve efficiency of primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardio-vascular diseases and firstly - coronary artery disease and stroke. The Center carries out the clinical and research activity aimed on the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis related heart and vessels diseases.

This is atherosclerosis that the reason of majority cardio-vascular diseases. A buildup of plaque inside the artery wall reduces blood flow to the brain. The disease course could be asymptomatic for a long time. As a result in many cases the patients are not carefully examined and stay without recommended medication.

Om April 16, 2018 the Center of atherosclerosis treatment and prevention throws open the doors where the following specialists will consult:
