Blood donation is one of the most important and voluntary procedure that can help save the lives of others. Even the most up-to-date treatment techniques and approaches to hematologic, oncologic and other diseases require blood donation. Donated blood is indispensable to help people suffers from severe diseases. Just 450 ml of donated blood can save 3 patients in a hospital of Saint-Petersburg.

Following the results of 2018 the rating of education institutions developing donation movement was formed. Where the donors of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov took first place. It was marked out the professionalism and teamwork of our University students and the movement leader Maria Gogotova, nurse of Transfusiology Department, clinic named after Peter the Great, which allowed to carry out high-level joint projects during the year.
