Training course on Hospital Epidemiology for specialists from Kazakhstan

From June 28 to July 03, 2021 the Chair of Epidemiology, Parasitology and Disinfectology hosted a training course on Hospital Epidemiology for specialists from the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the current context of the Coronavirus pandemic in Kazakhstan, as well as all over the world, the issue of prevention of healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) is particularly acute. HCAIs are a serious public health problem, both in terms of the health of those involved in the delivery of healthcare and in economic terms. This context calls for an improvement of the prevention paradigm for HCAIs and an increase in the role of training for professionals on these issues.

To support infection prevention and infection control issues, the World Health Organization Office in Kazakhstan initiated a training course on Hospital Epidemiology at the Chair of Epidemiology, Parasitology and Disinfectology, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov.

This course was attended by 13 experts from Kazakhstan involved in the implementation of infection control at the national level and at the level of key health facilities in Kazakhstan, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, epidemiologists and practitioners.
