Research Institute of medical mycology named after P.N.Kashkin The problem of nosocomial/hospital  infections became extremely significant lately.  Especially important became the problem of nosocomial/hospital  fungal infections (invasive mycoses) among different categories of immunocompromised patients.  Nosocomial/hospital  invasive mycoses are characterized by severe disease course and high mortality level .
Prevalence and  etiology of nosocomial/hospital  invasive mycoses, the sensitivity of their pathogens to antifungal medicines are understudied in our country. As the outcome of this research epidemiology and etiology of nosocomial fungal infections in hospitals of Saint-Petersburg and other Russian’s regions will be studied. Also will be studied the role of bacteriophages and pathogenicity islands in the epidemic clones formation and evolution of nosocomial infections pathogens. Classical method of pathogens identification is their phenotypic morphological and biochemical characteristic, but this method has disadvantages.
The results of microorganisms identification by modern DNA sequencing method, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry method and PLEX-ID system method will be compared.
